Reading in the ER, Praying in ICU – “we’re going through the valley, not stopping”

Sunday, after I got to ER, I asked dad if there was a passage he wanted me to read.  He immediately said Psalm 23.  After that, we started reading Psalm 91.  The ambulance guys came to move him to the hospital before we finished.

At the hospital, we started reading Psalm 91 again, but were interrupted with intake procedures and his episodes, before he was moved to ICU.  In ICU he was too worn out.

Monday morning around 2am, I prayed with dad before I left for the night, after they had somewhat stabilized him.  Dad surprised me by praying after me – he prayed something to the effect – “Thank you that we’re just going through the valley of the shadow of death, no stopping, but passing through.”
